MEETING WITH CLIENT
As a client of KGI, you benefit from the personal approach
that is our hallmark. We feel it is vital for us to have a working
knowledge of the corporate environment, structure and management
style of the client's organization. We take the necessary time to
work with you (as in a strategic partnership) to develop an understanding
of your total requirements including scope of the position, challenges
and opportunities it offers the selected candidate. Our process
and activities are always conducted at the confidential level required
by our clients. Prior to starting the search, we visit you in your
offices and tour your facility. Most importantly, we prefer meeting
with each individual with whom the selected candidate will be interacting.
Throughout the search process, we believe it is imperative that
the client be kept informed on a regular basis. We approach executive
search as a problem solving partnership.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
During initial meeting with you and other executives who will make
the ultimate hiring decision, KGI explores thoroughly the nature
of the position and capabilities, experience and personality traits
required of the candidate. When we undertake your executive search
assignment, we help you delineate your objectives and formulate
standards to be used in evaluating all potential candidates. These
standards become the basis for a specially tailored Position Description
we present for your approval before we begin our formal search.
At the conclusion of this visit, our firm has a clear picture of
your company, operations and people and you will have a clear picture
of ours as well. KGI believes that understanding your needs,
in addition to clear communication, are critical to the success
of the search process.
FEES
KGI bases the retainer on a search fee which is a percentage
of the expected annual compensation, including any bonuses, incentives
or commissions. However, each fee is evaluated and determined on
the requirements of the specific assignment(s). Our search fee is
divided into three equal installments. The initial retainer is due
at the start of the search and the remaining two service fees are
billed in thirty and sixty days respectively. Actual expenses incurred
during the course of the search will also be billed. Consulting
or contract assignments (Management Audits, Character Assessment
or Surveys and Analysis) are charged on an hourly, per diem or flat
rate basis. Travel, telephone and other out of pocket expenses are
paid in addition to fees.
RESEARCH
At completion of a mutually agreed upon position description, we
go into a research and sourcing mode. At KGI, in addition
to utilizing our extensive nationwide research networks, we have
one of the most important aspects of a research division, the computerized
data base which is continually updated with new information. Our
firm maintains comprehensive reports on executives and their capabilities,
growth and promise which is constantly updated and reevaluated.
Our research analysis also provides information on the competition,
how our client is perceived, the general marketiplace and candidate
compensation.
INTERVIEWING
After telephone screening a segmented research list, we proceed
to personally interview a selected group of candidates wherever
they may be found. We do a two to three hour intensive in-depth
interview. Immediately thereafter, we produce a short list of three
to five candidates, anyone of which fits the description and fulfills
the requirements of our client.
CANDIDATE PRESENTATION
Because KGI takes such extensive measures to work closely
with our client, you are assured the individual candidates presented
to you have been carefully selected and are based on the criteria
we have developed with you. By conducting in-depth interviews, we
are able to provide you with a biography and an evaluation from
our interview with the candidate. We prepare a complete biography,
filling in gaps, concentrating on pertinent accomplishments, giving
attention to where the candidate made a difference in contribution
to his or her corporation. We focus on talents or weaknesses which
would affect the candidate's performance. This allows you to familiarize
ourself with the candidate prior to your first meeting. As an enhancement
we are often present when the client interviews the candidate for
the first time. Our presence offers two advantages: First, it allows
the client to observe and listen as the candidate is interviewed
by us; Second, it allows us as trained interviewers to make sure
that important questions are asked, that answers are probed and
followed up on.
REFERENCING
In addition to interviews, we perform due diligence reference and
background checks on all those that make the short list. This consists
of talking with at least eight of the candidate's business associates,
present and former employers, colleagues, subordinates and customers.
To further protect you, if needed and with candidate approval, we
can also verify the educational background of the chosen candidate
and, if necessary, confer with police agencies.
NEGOTIATIONS
After you have chosen the candidate, KGI becomes an active
partner in the negotiation process. Acting as a third party, we
assist you and the candidate in coming to a mutually beneficial
conclusion.
FOLLOW-UP
After a search has been successfully completed, KGI keeps
in touch with both client and candidate to ensure a smooth transition.
If our candidate is terminated within six months from hiring date,
we will redo the search for expenses only. We are there to identify
any potential problems which permits rapid resolution and ensures
satisfaction for all concerned.
